I have not; but my mom has been reading it and has brought it to my attention a few times when we've been speaking about situations in the US, Florida in particular, and also such topics as Juneteenth.
She has said it is a very interesting and informative book. She has not commented further, because I haven't read it yet, and therefore...
However, I'm ... is this a different book from "The 1619 project : a new American origin story / edited by Nikole Hannah-Jones" ?
(i.e. is it _this_ book? https://haku.helmet.fi/iii/encore/record/C__Rb2498511__S1619__Orightresult__U__X6?lang=eng&suite=cobalt )
(Which reminds me "How to be an antiracist" by Ibram X. Kendi is back in stock at my local branch and that was what I planned on reading next.)
@Truck yes, that is the book. I saw on Instagram today that Ibram X Kendi has revised and updated How to be an Antiracist.
@zhivi
I have yes. Read a lot of not all of it when it was published in the times.
Is this a poll to see who knows of it or? Just curious why the question
@cmonster just a curious question.
#1619Project rocks!
I like to feel like I’m reasonably well-informed about history and about racial issues, but Dr. Hannah-Jones' compilation was jammed with novel - and heart-breaking - information for me.
These scholars, authors, and poets bring the receipts. I'm just flabbergasted at the number of degreed, bad actors providing pushback. The hacks, I get.
Wish we could lure NHJ to Mastodon!
@bigbadboxbook I’ve read some of the backlash, smh. Glad you enjoyed it.
@zhivi I haven't read it yet.
