@drcaberry That movie was excellent. The criticism was not well deserved. But of course, it's hard for people to see Black women being fierce and protecting their own.

@drcaberry some argued that the representation of the one tribe as enslavers was harmful. But that is part of the ugly truth: some of our African families did sell us off...we can't be romantic about it. It's true that slavery as a phenomenon was different in Africa from what White people turned it into, but there was war, the capturing of defeated peoples and enslaving them.
