Sorry I missed y’all last week , but went to the beach. Back on track – this wee’s pic is the last one from Dhow Countries Music Academy. It’s not Taarab, but it’s one of the bands they support. The artist is called Tofa Boy. He plays the flute, a ukelele (?) and he sings. In the video he is showing rural scenes while he is seated on a donkey that include landscape and a couple of working folks. 1/2

Interspersed among the idyllic rural countryside are scenes of men fighting each other, burning villages, and young people without enough food. Problems that plague most of Africa. I don’t speak Swahili, but it seems pretty clear he is singing about stopping violence and moving towards peace. In the last frame he shows two men shaking hands with each other.
